Security will be beefed up in Colpetty tomorrow due to rumours that Joint Opposition protestors will lay siege to Temple Trees, the official residence of the Prime Minister.

An additional Police force of 100 have already been brought into the heart of Colombo to maintain law and order in the city tomorrow, top government sources said.

In addition to the Police and its Anti-riot squad, the Special Task Force and security forces have been kept on alert.

Addressing a press conference today, Finance and Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera said the government would not sit back if the Joint Opposition caused disturbance to the public.

At the Cabinet meeting held this morning, extensive discussions took place on adopting measures to main law and order in the city on September 05.

A special security plan has also set in place to protect key strategic locations in the Colombo city.

The location of the rally and the itinerary of the match still remain a secret.

JO sources said the participants and ground level organizations would be made aware of the plan tomorrow, when they enter the capital city.
