Sampanthan Says He Is Ready To Face No-Confidence Motion: "Nowhere In the World Has An Opposition Leader Faced NCM"

Opposition Leader R. Sampanthan said he was ready to face a no-confidence motion at any point.

Sampanthan, while addressing a press conference in Jaffna, responded claims that there might be a no-confidence motion against him for voting in favour of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe during the latter's no-confidence vote.

"Nowhere in the world has an opposition member faced a no-confidence motion. It is not the parliamentary tradition nor is it ethical," Sampanthan said, at the press conference.

"But," he added, "if someone brings a no-confidence motion, I am ready to face it."

The Opposition Leader also said that the unity government, led by the President and the Prime Minister, must focus on swift constitutional reforms.
