May 1st A Working Day: May Day Celebrations Moved To May 7 In View Of Vesak Holiday


May 1st, Worker’s Day, which is traditionally considered a holiday the throughout the world, will be a normal working day this year, the government said today.

Instead, May 7th will be declared a holiday.

This is view of the fact that Vesak poya day falls on the 29th of April.

Minister Rajitha Senarate made this announcement on behalf of the government today at the Cabinet press briefing.
